Both salesperson and broker exams are administered on a computer in multiple-choice format. The exams include "Pre-Test" questions that do not count against a passing grade. A passing score is 70.
In Arkansas, to become a licensed real estate salesperson, you must be 18 years or older, complete 60 hours of pre-license education, pass the salesperson exam, apply for the license within 90 days of passing the exam, and complete an approved post-license course within 6 months of obtaining the license. For brokers, the requirements include being 18 years or older, completing 60 hours of pre-license education (including 45 hours of broker pre-license course), having at least 24 months of licensed real estate salesperson experience within the previous 48 months, passing the broker exam, applying for the license within 90 days of passing the exam, and completing an approved post-license course within 6 months of obtaining the license. Both roles require undergoing an Arkansas and FBI criminal background check, with associated fees.
To pass the Arkansas Real Estate Exam, both salespersons and brokers need to achieve a score of at least 70. The salesperson exam consists of two portions: the national portion with 80 questions and the Arkansas State Law portion with 30 questions. The broker exam is a single portion with 120 questions. Both exams include some "Pre-Test" questions that do not count against your score.
For the Arkansas Real Estate Exam, you should bring two forms of identification with matching names, both non-expired and containing a valid signature. One of these IDs must be government-issued and photo-bearing, such as a driver's license or passport. Additionally, it is recommended to bring a basic calculator, as the exam is computer-based but calculations may be required.
