Define Independent Contractor in Real Estate

Independent Contractor:

an independent contractor is someone who works for themselves and is hired by a company or individual to complete a specific job or project. They are not an employee of the company or individual and are responsible for paying their own taxes and providing their own benefits.

Example:

For example, a real estate agent may work as an independent contractor for a real estate brokerage. They are not an employee of the brokerage, but rather are hired to sell properties on behalf of the brokerage. They are responsible for paying their own taxes and providing their own benefits such as health insurance.

An independent contractor is quite a treat,
They work for themselves, they can't be beat!
They're hired to do a specific job or task,
And they don't get benefits, that's no mask!

They're not an employee, no sirree,
They work independently, can't you see?
The company that hires them has limited control,
And they don't withhold taxes, that's their goal!

So if you're an independent contractor too,
Remember to pay your taxes, that's what you must do!
And if you want benefits, that's up to you,
As an independent contractor, that's nothing new!
